Thai Food Review: Pacific Breeze

December 9, 2010

As you know from our many restaurant reviews… we like to eat!

Pacific Breeze is located just down the road by JB O’Briens (on Durham/99w). Check out the yelp reviews… it’s a great place.

I have had a love affair with Pacific Breeze for almost 5 years now. There was a time when I would eat it two or three times a week. It’s affordable, delicious, healthy and the staff is awesome. I’ve taken friends there several times and I always have to give them a warning. “They know my name and they will ask me if I want green curry.” My friends just laugh. But really, I go there enough that I feel like Norm from Cheers! “Aaaammmmmbbbbber!?

Sadly, I have only tried three things on the menu. But I love them so much I can’t resist. My favorites are Green Curry with shrimp or chicken (medium spice), Pad Thai or Pho Ga.

If you’re in the mood for a little taste of Vietnam or Thailand go to Pacific Breeze. Tell them Amber sent you.

Enjoy!

A few updates from the office!

November 19, 2010

Hello! As you can see… we haven’t been very good bloggers. We’d love to have more residents reading as it would give us something to write about. Then again, perhaps if we wrote more, more of you would read. Tushe.

Just wanted to update you on a few changes around the office. First off, we are very sad to announce that Michelle moved back to Arizona. She and Dexter (you all remember her sweet, scared little dog, right?) are doing fantastic! We miss her but that brings me to the next announcement….

Our very own Beth has been PROMOTED to assistant manager! (round of applause please). Beth will now happily answer any of your rent related questions with a smile! Please contact Beth with any issues or requests concerning your account. As always Alexsi and I can help you with these as well.. but as assistant manager it’s Beths new gig! Beth can be reached at bsykes@hollandresidential.com or by phone at 503.624.8200.

Next, we got a fish.

Don’t laugh.. his name is Vencenzio (I hear you giggling). Everyone that has met him so far has asked the same question, “is he dead?”. We assure you that he’s very much alive-and-well which is why I took these snappy photos of him so you can all see for yourself. He lives in the tank near Alexsi’s desk so feel free to come by, say hello and watch him float. He’s a whirlwind of excitement, I promise.

Last but not least the office is having a food drive! Last year we donated over 710lbs of food to the Oregon Food Bank. This means that because we were so generous last year they gave us TWO bins to fill up. SO far the bins are sad and empty… please, if you are able to help we’d love to help the community with your canned food, pasta, peanut butter, pasta sauce donations. Anyone can fall on hard times… why not feel good about helping someone in need? The bins are located in the clubhouse. If your schedule doesn’t allow you to drop your donation off during office hours then feel free to leave your grocery bags by the front office door and we’ll stick your items in the bins.

We are thankful to have such great residents. If you’re not completly satisfied with Arbor Heights let one of us know so that we can make it right! Have a wonderful weekend!

Amber

Dog Days of Summer

June 22, 2010

As you all know, Arbor Heights is a very pet-friendly community. We love your pets like you do and hope to continue being pet friendly for many years to come. From time-to-time we like to remind everyone of the rules so that pet owners and non-pet owners alike can live in harmony. Please be respectful as not everyone wants to be your dogs best friend. If we all follow these simple reminders we can have a great summer!

  • All dogs must be on a leash at all times!

As a dog owner I know that retractable leashes are very handy and let your dog have a certain sense of freedom but please be mindful if you see other residents walking nearby. Sometimes dogs can get anxious or even defensive if they see someone approaching you. For everyone’s peace of mind please pay attention to your surroundings and reel your dog in if you see someone coming your way!

  • Do not leave your dog on your patio unattended!

Pets are not permitted to be left on your patio unattended for any length of time. If you would like to sit on your patio with your pet and enjoy the summer air, read a good book or just plain people watch that is fine!! Often times when pets are left on the patio they bark at birds, squirrels or anything that passes by. It can also be messy when nature calls so it’s best not to leave your pets outside unless you are there.

  • Please pick up after your dog 100% of the time!

No one likes a surprise on the bottom of their shoe! With summer approaching more people will be barefoot or in flip-flops and stepping in a pile of dog mess is even more unpleasant then. The hot weather also attracts bugs and makes the piles extra smelly. We have several bag stations set up through out the property but you should also bring your own bags just incase the stations are out. Please let the office know if you see anyone not complying with the policy or if the bag stations are empty!

  • As of 1/1/10 a $50 fine will be imposed for non-compliance.

You may be fined up to $50 per non-compliant occurrence of either not picking up after your pet or breaking the leash rule! Also as your lease states your dog may be asked to vacate at anytime due to unruly behaviors so keep your four-legged friends on their best behavior at all times!

  • Dog of the Month + Pet photo album.

We would like to reward good-citizen dogs by honoring them on our blog! (www.arborheights.wordpress.com) Be on the lookout for our first dog of the month in July. Don’t forget about our pet photo album (located in the leasing office). Bring a photo of your dog, cat, fish, bird, hamster, etc (4×6 or smaller please) and we’ll include them in our book!

Happy Summer, Amber

Who let the dogs in??????

June 19, 2010

Well, we all hoped that by now we would be enjoying some sun after the winter we had.  Seeing as though that is not the case and we are sure your four-legged friend is feeling the blues too, we are happy to tell you about InBark!

InBark is a 5,000 square foot indoor area with turf for you and your best friend to play on!  It is located at 14865 SW 72nd avenue right here in Tigard!  No need to worry about your little buddy getting muddy or wet or taking off!

From the desk of Alex!

  • Please enjoy the pool-

1. We hope you will take advantage of the sparkling pool during the summer season.

2. If you do not have a pool pass please see the office. Pool passes help us to identify residents as we don’t always recognize you when you’re wearing sunglasses and swim wear.

3. If you are a smoker, please observe the non-smoking signs in the pool area. We have designated a smoking station behind the maintenance shop (complete with an ashtray). Do not smoke outside the pool gate as the bark dust is extremely flammable. If you need assistance locating the smoking area any of the staff will be happy to show you.

4. The pool hours are strictly enforced by courtesy patrol. Please respect the hours as there are many homes near the pool and sound travels up and down the hill easily.

5. Help us to keep the pool area and water clean by throwing away your trash and not wearing too much sunscreen as it can clog the filter.

  • Air Conditioners-

We know that the weather can get hot and you may need the comfort of your own personal A/C unit. We ask that you follow a few simple installation rules to keep the property looking uniform and anybody passing by safe from falling debris

1. You may install a window air conditioning unit in any window in your home.

2. You may not drill into the structure or window frame.

3. Please use approved clips to ensure the upper window stays in place. See office for an example of approved clips.

4. Clear plastic is only approved to fill the gap the A/C leaves in your window. Please refrain from using blankets, pillows or cardboard.

5. Once you have installed your a/c, please call the office to have a maintenance tech come to inspect for proper installation.

  • Garbage Disposals-

1. Please run water before turning the disposal on.

2. Read section 5 of your community policies for a comprehensive list of items NOT to put down your disposal.

3. If your disposal jams, please attempt to reset the unit using the red button on the bottom. If that doesn’t work, call the office to create a service request and we’ll be happy to come by to fix it.

4. If your disposal is damaged by negligence or misuse you will be charged for a new unit. The cost is $50.

  • Toilets:

1. A toilets worst enemy is dental floss! Whatever you do… DO NOT FLUSH DENTAL FLOSS!

2. Call the office for a service request if your toilet runs or leaks.

  • Common Areas:

1. Please do not leave garbage bags on your patio or in the breezeway. Summer is prime time for bugs and wildlife.

2. When you do take your garbage out, please make sure you put it INSIDE the dumpster not around the dumpster.

3. Take pride in our community by picking up after yourself and encourage the occupants in your home to do the same.

4. SIDEWALK CHALK IS PROHIBITED. It takes time, manpower and lots of water to remove the “art ” from the pavement.

Our maintenance staff works 7 days per week(7am-4pm) and are available for emergencies only after hours.  Service requests are completed daily from 1-4pm and appointments can be made for earlier times if necessary.

Sincerely,

Alex
